Esparza-Flores allegedly shot the woman in the hip last Oct. 22 in Oakland. The woman was hospitalized in critical condition but survived the shooting, police said.

According to Oakland police, Esparza-Flores fired at the woman after she and Esparza-Flores’ girlfriend got into a fistfight. Authorities say the victim and her 4-year-old daughter were in the same vehicle when he opened fire.

Esparza-Flores was identified as a suspect in early November, but wasn’t arrested until Nov. 24, after he drove up to the scene of a vehicle collision involving his girlfriend, police said. Inside his car, officers allegedly found a loaded Glock pistol.
