A woman who spent nearly four days trapped in her pickup truck after crashing along Mt. Baldy Road, north of Claremont and Upland, was rescued when a group of hikers spotted the wreckage on Sunday, Jan. 7.
Around 12:30 p.m, the group of hikers notified authorities about a Ford Ranger crashed off the side of Mt. Baldy Road, near mile marker 3.30, according to Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Fred Fielding. The truck was down in the canyon when firefighters arrived and extricated the driver.
The woman told authorities at the scene that she was driving north along the road on Wednesday night when a deer ran into the middle of the road and caused her to swerve and crash, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. William Fillpot.
The woman was taken to a hospital and was reported to be stable, Fielding said.
An update on her condition or information on how she survived was not immediately available.
