A car exiting Interstate 80 flew off an elevated off-ramp in San Francisco and crashed into the upper floors of a residential building, the California Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday. A Toyota Corolla crossover SUV leaving westbound I-80 via the Harrison Street ramp struck the low wall on the outside of the curve and was launched over its edge.
It struck the third and second floors of Clocktower Lofts, a condo building that fronts on Second Street, and fell about 30 feet to the shoulder of the on-ramp from Bryant Street to eastbound I-80.
Its sole occupant was extricated from the crushed car and taken to a hospital. She was in stable condition Monday morning, CHP Officer Mark Andrews said. She had been wearing a seat belt, he said.
Images from the scene show damage to windows in the Clocktower building. There were no reports of injury to any of the residents.
Earlier Sunday, a crash about 2 miles east on I-80 killed a person, the CHP said. A 25-year-old woman who had gotten out of her car after a crash on the eastbound Bay Bridge at Yerba Buena Island was then struck by a third car. She was taken to a hospital, where she died. The drivers of the two other cars were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Four eastbound lanes of the bridge were closed for investigation until about 4:15 a.m., an hour after the crash.
