The stabbing stemmed from an altercation aboard the bus around 7 p.m. near the intersection of Middlefield Road and Fifth Avenue, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office. The victim was taken to a hospital with multiple stab wounds.

Deputies arrested a suspect in connection with the stabbing just minutes after it was reported. Authorities said no one else appeared to be involved in the incident.

“There is no ongoing threat to the public,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Additional details about the stabbing, including the suspect’s identity and specific booking charges, will be released on Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.
