SAN JOSE — The death of a man whose decomposing body was discovered inside an RV in North San Jose last week is being investigated as a homicide following an autopsy, police said.
Officers were called around 10:50 p.m. Jan. 11 to a report of a possible dead body inside a recreational vehicle near Kruse Drive and Montague Expressway, San Jose police said in a news release Thursday.
They examined the vehicle and found the body of a man inside. Police said it wasn’t immediately apparent how he died “due to the level of decomposition.”

A death investigation was launched, and on Wednesday, police said the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office “located physical trauma on the victim” and ruled that he died as the result of a homicide. His name was not publicly released pending his formal identification and notification of his next of kin by coroner’s officials.
Police did not release additional details, including the circumstances of the death and a possible motive, citing an ongoing investigation.
The case marks the third homicide investigated by San Jose police this year.
