The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors voted Jan. 23 to restrict parking on Black Road near Los Gatos.

The move will result in a ban on parking from dusk until dawn along portions of the west side of Black Road and no parking at any time on the south side of the unincorporated county road, according to a release from Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian’s office.

The restrictions were motivated by a request from county park rangers for an evaluation of portions of Black Road, which has seen illegal and overnight parking recently approximately one mile east of Skyline Boulevard near the entrance to the John Nicholas Trailhead at Sanborn County Park.

Simitian said the changes should improve the flow of traffic for drivers on the road. The signage indicating the new restrictions are scheduled to be installed in March.

“It has the added benefit of making Black Road safer for our residents, as well as park visitors,” Simitian said in the release.
