The Los Altos Police Department identified the man as 74-year-old Steven Hooper and the woman as 66-year-old Chris Cryer. The cause of death remains under investigation, and police on Monday said investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology reports.

Officers discovered the bodies around 1:20 p.m. on Jan. 16, when they went to a home in the 200 block of West Edith Avenue to do a welfare check, according to police.

In an update on the case earlier this month, police said the incident was not related to any missing person case in the Bay Area and there was no threat to public safety.

Anyone with information related to the case can contact Detective Sgt. Steven Spillman at [email protected] or 650-947-2689, or the police department tip line at 650-947-2774.
