SAN JOSE — A man who was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver in East San Jose earlier this month has died, and investigators are still seeking the motorist who left him behind, police said Tuesday.

The collision was reported at 6:43 a.m. Jan. 11 on Quimby Road, according to San Jose police. An initial investigation found that a westbound driver approaching South White Road hit a man who was “running in and out of traffic,” then left the area.

The injured man was taken to a hospital with what were described as life-threatening injuries, and he was initially stabilized, police said. But he died Saturday from his injuries; the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office has identified him as 26-year-old Vincent Thien Thach.

Police have not released a description of the driver or vehicle that hit Thach. He is the fourth person and the third pedestrian to die in a traffic collision in San Jose this year.
