CHICO — Two high school students reportedly broke out in a lunchtime fight Wednesday in downtown Chico that resulted in a stabbing, according to witness reports.

The stabbing took place in the pouring rain on the sidewalk outside Bidwell Presbyterian Church on West First Street around noon.

Witnesses from nearby businesses reported students screaming outside and coming into their building asking for help.

“Kids were screaming, and crying, and there was blood all over them,” Krista Lapp, owner of Red Room Adorned, said. She did not witness the stabbing but saw a video of it.

The victim was stabbed in multiple parts of the body, said Gage Laird, “slice guy” at Celestino’s Pizza. He said a friend of one of the girls ran inside Celestino’s and asked them to call the police.

“There’s a bunch of people just holding down on this girls chest trying to prevent the bleeding,” Laird said.

Lapp said the girl who got stabbed was being harassed multiple days prior to the stabbing.

This newspaper will update the report as more information comes.
