Authorities said that four Oakland men who were caught during a Union City burglary were suspects in a ring of thefts that utilized high-tech equipment to avoid being identified while they stole thousands in goods from homes across the Bay Area.
In a news release Thursday, San Jose police said that the department began investigating a series of home invasions and residential burglaries within city boundaries at the end of 2023. While collaborating with agencies from nearby Bay Area cities, the department learned of similar incidents connected to the same suspects in San Bruno, Fremont, Milpitas and Union City.
Police said that the suspects used Wi-Fi jammers to disrupt signals from home-security cameras while stealing jewelry, high-end watches, purses, large amounts of cash and firearms.
On Jan. 23 San Jose and Fremont police apprehended four Oakland men in their mid-to-late 30s during an in-progress burglary at a home in Union City. The men were each arrested on suspicion of home invasion and residential burglary.
During the execution of separate search warrants, police found more than $100,000 in cash and stolen property, including several hand guns and a high-capacity rifle.

The four men were initially booked into Alameda County Jail but will be transferred to the Santa Clara County Main Jail, according to police.
