CHICO — Extreme weather during Sunday’s storm led to power outages in Butte County.

As of Tuesday morning, power was out for 5,222 customers, according to PG&E spokesperson Paul Moreno.

On Monday morning, 16,198 people were without power, so crews are working hard.

“We are making good progress getting power back on,” Moreno said. “We’ve restored Paradise and repaired transmission lines.”

Moreno said crews are doing assessments so the repair crew can load up trucks and trailers and bring in any equipment to restore power.

Moreno said the areas of Butte County which were most affected were Butte Meadows and parts of Forest Ranch. Crews and contractors were brought in from outside the area to help local crews.

Moreno said Butte County was hit especially hard by the storm because of weather impacts. Nevada and Placer counties were also hit hard and also Central Coast communities.

“We’ve restored power to a million people in our service area,” said Moreno.

Moreno also said if you see a downed power line, stay away and be sure to call 911 and report it or call PG&E.t
