Body found last month in Oakland slough is identified

OAKLAND — A man found dead last month on the shoreline of an East Oakland slough was identified by the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau on Wednesday.

The coroner’s bureau said that Chio Saetern, 51, did not have a listed address.

A cause of death has not yet been determined pending toxicology results, Authorities have also not said how long they believe Saetern was on the shoreline before he was found.

His body was found about 4:30 p.m. Jan. 28 on  a grassy embankment just a few feet away from  the water of East Creek Slough, south of the 5400 block of Coliseum Way and just north of Interstate 880.  The slough runs into San Leandro Bay.

Authorities believe he had been in the water at some point. His body was spotted by a person attending a nearby swap meet.
