RICHMOND — A man fatally shot Feb. 6 in a residential area of the city has been identified by the coroner’s office as Myron Smith, 50, of Oakland.

Police so far have not released a possible motive for the killing and have not announced any arrests.

Investigators also have not said why they believe Smith was in Richmond.

He was fatally shot about 10:56 p.m. Feb. 6 in the 2300 block of Lancaster Drive near Aberdeen Way.

The killing is the second homicide investigated by Richmond police this year.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call Detective Brian Hoffman at 510-621-1755.

There have been other shootings —  including two homicides — in the same area since 2022, although police said they don’t believe any of them are related.

A 43-year-old man was fatally shot last March at Lancaster Drive and Aberdeen Way. Another man was shot multiple times in the 2400 block of Aberdeen Way on Feb. 28, 2023 but survived. On Aug. 16, 2022, a 32-year-old man was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting on the same block.
