CHICO — Chico’s city limit is set to grow another 20 acres after a decision Tuesday to annex parcels including a new neighborhood.
The Chico City Council voted 6-0 Tuesday to proceed with annexing 20 acres in north Chico which includes 15 acres of planned housing with Orchard Creek Estates and a five-acre lot home to the Chico Family Masonic Center.
Previous to Tuesday’s vote, the 20 acres were unincorporated and included within bounds of a 398-acre master planned area called the Bell-Muir Special Planning Area.
Councilors approved the 15-acre, 74-lot Orchard Creek Estates plan Feb. 20 in disregard to the Bell Muir Special Planning Area, thereby leaving a final matter to formally annex the land into Chico and remove the area from the plan.
Councilors held no discussion and no public input was given. With direction to proceed, city staff will ask the Butte County Local Formation Commission to approve the annexation.
