CHICO — Warner Street is a widely traveled street that runs parallel to Chico State. But you may not know that there is a story behind the street being named “Warner.”

The street was called North Ivy until November 1937 when it was renamed Warner Street by the Chico City Council as a thank you to Warner Bros. Studios, according to Chico Heritage Association Board member Margaret Siemsen. The company made the movie “The Adventures of Robin Hood,” which was partly filmed in Bidwell Park.

The movie, starring Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland, was released in 1938. Siemsen said the movie was shown at the El Rey Theater.
