CHICO — Scaffolding surrounds the Bidwell Mansion after work began to restore the historic home of Chico’s founder.
Extensive documentation and care are being taken, aimed at preserving the original materials of the building. The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and the Office of Historic Preservation are working with California State Parks in close collaboration, a State Parks representative previously told this newspaper.
The $2 million restoration project includes replacing the roof, plasterwork and repainting the mansion.
