What’s in a Name: Alibi Pub and Grill

CHICO —  Alibi Pub and Grill opened about two-and-a-half weeks ago. You might be wondering how it got its unusual name.

Alibi owners Chris and Ronda Moore posted on the Sycamore Creek neighborhood website asking for suggestions as to what they should name the bar and restaurant. Chris Moore’s friend and former neighbor David Westphal responded and told him if he were to name a bar, he would name it Alibi. The Moores agreed.

This means you can use the spot as far as naming where you were at a particular time if needed.

“Let us be your alibi,” Chris Moore said.

There is also an Alibi bar in the television show “Shameless.” It is a spot where character Frank Gallagher goes to hang out. The Moores have a sign with picture of actor William H. Macy as Gallagher on it behind the bar.

Chris Moore said the restaurant/bar is doing well so far.

“Neighbors are excited about it and word is spreading beyond the neighborhood,” he said.
