Police received a call around 7:56 p.m. that a 16-year-old girl stabbed a man and was being held on the ground in the park by some bystanders.

She was arrested when police arrived and booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Detention Facility on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated resisting an officer, battery on a peace officer and battery on a person, authorities said.

Police said the teen approached one of the victims with a knife and started yelling at him. When he tried to walk away, she allegedly swung the knife at him and stabbed him in the hand when he tried to block his face.

Another man saw what was happening and ran to help the victim and tried to stop the girl from attacking him, but he was also stabbed in the hand.

The men were holding the girl down when officers arrived. When they tried to detain her, police said the girl fought violently and did not drop the knife when ordered to do so. She also allegedly bit one of the officers who was trying to take the knife out of her hand before she was arrested.

The two men were taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
