SAN JOSE — A person suspected in a 2023 shooting that killed a man has been arrested, police said Friday.

Officers arrested San Jose resident Pablo Davila-Martinez, 20, on Tuesday, on suspicion of murder, San Jose police Lt. John Barg said in a statement. Authorities booked Davila-Martinez into the Santa Clara County Jail.

Authorities said Davila-Martinez is suspected in a May 29, 2023, shooting that happened about 9:50 p.m. in the area of Willow Street and Lelong Street. A woman also was wounded in the shooting, and police found her after arriving on the scene. She survived.

Police later found a man wounded in a homeless encampment. That person, whom authorities have not identified, died at the scene.

Police did not say what they believe the motive for the shooting to be.

The shooting also closed one lane of state Highway 87 for about 10 hours as police investigated.
