Barely two weeks into the new school year, Amador Valley High School’s principal is out on an indefinite leave of absence, according to school officials.

Pleasanton Valley Unified School District said there is no return date for the high school’s principal, Jonathan Fey, but former district leaders will provide additional support in the interim, including former Pleasanton Middle School principal, John Whitney.

“His role is not interim principal, he is just providing additional administrative support as we do not have a return date for Fey,” the district’s director of communication, Patrick Gannon said Friday.

Gannon declined to comment on the reason for Fey’s leave of absence, noting that the district unable to share information regarding an employee’s leave.
