PARADISE — The Paradise-Chico sewer connection project appears to be in full swing.

During its meeting Tuesday, the Paradise Town Council is scheduled to hear an update on the work done by the Progressive Design Build Team as well as what’s next for the project.

“Since its incorporation in 1979, the Town has sought a formal wastewater treatment solution for the community, with service for commercial and densely populated residential areas being a priority,” the related staff report said. “Failed and failing septic systems create public health and environmental concerns and have limited economic growth.”

The project is broken down into three parts: the core collection system, the export pipeline and the extended collection system.

Roughly 1,500 parcels on and adjacent to Skyway, Pearson and Clark roads will be connected as part of the core collection system. The export pipeline portion of the project will feed from the bottom of the core collection system and run downhill toward Chico and into the city’s Water Pollution Control Plant. Lastly, the extended collection system will allow additional parcels to connect to the new sewage network as long as the parcel is within the town limits.
