OAKLAND — A 30-year-old woman was robbed of her purse at gunpoint in front of her two young children Thursday night in East Oakland, authorities said.

Neither the woman or her children, aged 6 and 10 years, were physically injured.

The robbery happened about 8:15 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of 12th Avenue.

The woman had just parked her vehicle and she and her children were standing outside when a car pulled up and stopped in front of them, authorities said.

Two masked men holding guns got out of the car. While one stood near the car, the other confronted the woman, put his gun to her body and took her purse, police said.

As residents in the area began coming outside to help the woman, the men got back into the car, which was driven by another person, and left the scene, authorities said.

The suspects’ car, believed to be a while Hyundai sedan, was last seen going southbound on 12th Avenue. Detailed descriptions of the robbers were not released.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrests of the suspects. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
