Redwood City: Three arrested after attempted car theft

Three young men were arrested after an attempted auto theft Friday night, according to Redwood City police.

Officers responded to reports of two men breaking into a silver Toyota Prius at about 11:30 p.m. near Page Street and Haven Avenue. When they arrived in the area, they encountered the Prius leaving from that direction.

Police pulled the car over and found two 19 year-olds and one 22 year-old in the vehicle. According to officers, they were using an electronic device used by car thieves to reprogram’s car keys.

The three men were booked into the San Mateo County Jail for attempted auto theft, conspiracy, and possession of burglary tools.
