PACIFICA — A father and son were rescued from the ocean west of Sharp Park Golf Course on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

At 12:32 p.m., several fire units, along with a California Highway Patrol helicopter, the U.S. Coast Guard and California State Parks personnel, responded to a father and his young son “in distress” north of Mori Point, according to the North County Fire Authority.

Rescue swimmers retrieved the father and son who were given treatment before being transported to San Francisco General Hospital. There were no other injuries of civilians or rescue personnel reported and the incident was resolved within one-and-a-half hours.

The region along the coast where the father and son were retrieved are known for strong waves. Last November, the Coast Guard called off a search after not being able to find a 54-year-old man who was swept into the ocean off Martins Beach near Half Moon Bay.
