SAN JOSE — A Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority bus caught on fire Sunday afternoon at the Eastridge Transit Center, officials said.

A VTA spokesperson said the fire happened around 3:40 p.m. and that no passengers were on board. The fire department extinguished the fire and the station was temporarily closed with busses being rerouted as cleanup occurred.

Around 5 p.m., VTA said the transit center reopened with just the middle lane out of service.
