CHICO — The B-Line is conducting a free fare day Monday, allowing customers to use its transit services without paying.
A press release issued Wednesday by Butte County’s bus service said fixed route and paratransit buses will be available for free to the public in honor of Earth Day.
“B-Line has secured funds to cover fares for the day in all fare categories,” the release said. “This includes B-Line fixed route and paratransit services within the communities of Chico, Oroville, Paradise, Magalia, Gridley and Biggs.”
According to the release, all rides will be free without the need of a coupon or card when getting on a bus.
“B-Line wants to thank its passengers and encourage new people to try the bus. With rising gas prices and increased impacts of traffic congestion on our local roadways, B-Line hopes the free fare will encourage new riders to try public transit. Riding the bus is a proactive way for Butte County residents to contribute to improved air quality in the region.”
