PARADISE — Residents of Paradise have likely gotten used to the sights and sounds of the town’s relatively new sirens over the past year, and their arboreal disguises, but additional testing is scheduled over the course of the next week.

The Early Warning Siren Towers in Paradise will once again sound off beginning Thursday and continuing until May 7.

According to a press release issued Wednesday by the town of Paradise, each tower will get one test at some point between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Testing days consist of May 2, 3, 6 and 7, though it is noted in the release that the monthly test of all 21 sirens is still scheduled for Saturday at noon.

“This testing is crucial for the town and its contractor to assess sound levels and confirm the proper configuration of each tower within the system,” the release said.

“The Town of Paradise appreciates the understanding and cooperation of its residents during the testing phase,” the release said. “The Town assures the community that every effort is being made to minimize any inconvenience while prioritizing the safety and well-being of all residents.”

The towers were first tested in June 2023 when a multi-agency exercise was conducted throughout the town. Since then, the towers have been tested somewhat regularly.

When constructed, all of the towers were strategically placed to allow for complete coverage of 70-decibel sirens across Paradise.
