RED BLUFF — The Red Bluff Police Department said today that Salisbury High School has been closed due to a medical incident that sent multiple staff members and one student to the hospital.

According to an RBPD press release, on Friday morning, its resource officer reported that an intoxicated female student showed up at school.

While the officer was investigating the report, staff members began to feel ill, and four staff members were sent to the hospital while the juvenile was also sent to the hospital.

“There’s no evidence of fentanyl use that is floating out there. There’s no evidence of fentanyl use or fentanyl exposure,” Red Bluff Superintendent Todd Brose said. “We did test the areas of the building, to test for contaminants. And it was negative.”

Brose said all four staff members have been released from the hospital and are improving.

He added that the incident started before school, and it made sense for them to cancel school for the day, partly due to the lack of staff.

“It was decided just to send the buses back and contact the parents,” he said.”We were not going to have a productive day of school. So that’s why we decided to do that.”

He added that more information would be released as it became available.

“We live in the in difficult times and challenging times,” he said. “And I would just respect that that we’re going to release information as we know it.

The school will be back open on Monday.

The juvenile was later treated and released from an area hospital and transported to the Tehama County Juvenile Detention Facility for alleged public intoxication and probation violation.
