Los Gatos 66, Gunn 49
Scotty Brennan, son of former San Jose State football coach Brent Brennan, had himself quite a game Thursday night as Los Gatos continued to pile up victories in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League’s De Anza Division.
Two days after his dad was named the new coach at the University of Arizona, Brennan scored 25 points to lead the Wildcats past host Gunn.
That followed the 15 points Brennan, a 6-foot-4 junior, had in a 56-55 victory at home over Milpitas on Tuesday.
After the Milpitas win, Los Gatos coach Nick Ward said about Brennan, “I talked to him before the game. I told him, `Don’t worry about that, whatever happens happens. You’re playing, you’re here, just focus on the now.”’
The victory Thursday stretched Los Gatos’ winning streak to seven games. The Wildcats are 14-3 overall and 5-0 in the league.
Los Gatos also got 19 points from Nolan Koch and eight points from Anthony Martin.
James Ford (17 points) and Ethan Kitch (10 points) were Gunn’s top scorers.
The Titans fell to 9-7, 1-3.
Palo Alto 45, Mountain View 43
In a tense, back-and-forth game, Palo Alto turned back visiting Mountain View when Riley Yuen buried a 3-pointer from the left corner off an assist from Jorell Clark with 23 seconds to go.
The shot made it 45-43.
Palo Alto then had a stop to close out the victory, the its 13th in 17 games this season. The Vikings are 4-1 in the SCVAL’s De Anza Division.
Mountain View led 41-37 with just under four minutes to play. Palo Alto scored the next five points to reclaim the advantage. A not-so-easy layup by Jayden Minor put Mountain View back in front before Yuen’s shot won the game for Palo Alto.
Clark finished with 21 points to lead Vikings, who also got eight points from Yuen.
Minor had 16 points and Alex Cunningham added 12 points for Mountain View, which fell to 11-7, 2-4.
Palo Alto travels to Los Gatos on Saturday night.

No. 1 Salesian 83, Vallejo 23
Salesian is leaving no doubt that it’s the Bay Area’s top team as the Pride plowed through another overmatched opponent in the Tri-County Athletic League’s Rock Division.
Elias Obenyah finished with 11 points and De’Undrae Perteete and Alvin Loving each had nine points as Salesian improved to 20-1, 6-0.
Darrell Hurd had nine points for Vallejo, which dropped to 6-10, 1-5.
Alameda 53, No. 16 Berkeley 50
Zion Moore led the way with 21 points as host Alameda edged Berkeley in a West Alameda County Conference Foothill Division game.
The Hornets also got 13 points from Jesse Kim as they improved to 11-5, 3-1.
Ollie Miller (18 points), Samir O’ Brien (10 points) and AJ Loustau (10 points) were Berkeley’s top scorers.
The Yellowjackets are 13-6, 3-3.
Moreau Catholic 66, Newark Memorial 49
Moreau extended its winning streak to six as Tyler Bailey scored 18 points to lead the visiting Mariners past host Newark Memorial in a Mission Valley Athletic League game.
Isaiah Clendinen added 16 points and Kareem Jackson Jr. finished with 10 points as Moreau improved to 11-7, 7-0.
Newark Memorial is 4-15, 0-7.
Cupertino 64, Lynbrook 32
Cupertino opened a 16-2 lead after the first quarter, widened the margin to 37-11 at halftime and breezed through the second half to beat Lynbrook in an SCVAL El Camino Division game.
Max Lin scored 21 points — all on his seven 3-pointers — and Max Feldan added 18 points to lead Cupertino, which improved to 16-1, 5-0.
Lynbrook is 6-12, 3-3.
Girls basketball
No. 3 Carondelet 73, Dublin 37
Carondelet had three players score in double figures as the Cougars rolled at home over Dublin in East Bay Athletic League play.
Kamil Reid had 12 points and Layla Dixon and Celeste Alvarez each had 10 points for Carondelet, which also got 11 assists from Keshia Vitalicio, nine rebounds from Dixon and four steals from Phoebe Weaver.
Sydney Muther (11 points) and Sophia Ignacio (10 points) led Dublin in scoring.
Carondelet improved to 18-2, 5-0. Dublin is 13-6, 2-2.
No. 16 Salesian 71, De Anza 29
Salesian surged to a 25-6 lead after one quarter and never looked back as the Pride defeated De Anza in TCAL Rock play.
Ayla Rege scored 18 points, Madalyn Kanazawa finished with 16 points, Janiya Sawyer added 14 points and Kamari Johnson chipped in with 10 points to lead the Pride.
Sawyer also had seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and three deflections.
Jazelle Bolton scored 18 points for De Anza, which fell to 3-12, 0-5.

No. 18 Evergreen Valley 49, Christopher 42
Evergreen Valley, playing on the road, fell seven points behind in the first quarter before storming back to lead by three at halftime. The visitors went on to win to stay undefeated in Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division play.
Lealah Rowden finished with 15 points, Ryka Aprameyan added 14 points and Xuan-Mai Nguyen scored nine points to lead Evergreen Valley, which extended its winning streak to seven.
The Cougars are 14-5, 4-0.
Christopher got 20 points and six 3-pointers from Alyssa Lopez and 13 points from Nat Javier.
The Gilroy school fell to 15-3, 1-3.
