A contractor hired by Placer County on Friday used explosives to demolish the largest boulders that had fallen the previous day onto Old Foresthill Road near Mammoth Bar.

Auburn State Recreation Area says the road remains closed in the Mammoth Bar area for cleanup and stabilization of the hillside.
