PALERMO — A vegetation fire quickly covered 60-70 acres near Palermo south of Oroville on Thursday as firefighters began an attack to slow the burn.
Evacuation orders have already been put in place for areas near Railbridge Road and Crestmont Court, accoring to Cal Fire-Butte County’ social media and the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
Additional tankers and engines have been requested to help fight the blaze as well as two more dozers to create fire lines.
As of 4:40 p.m., structures are being threatened by the fire, but no injuries or deaths have been reported. Butte County evacuation zone 887 is under an evacuation order from the Sheriff’s Office.
“Air and ground crews working together to stop the spread of the fire and protect threatened structures,” Cal Fire-Butte County said on social media.
Cal Fire-Butte County said the fire is located near the Apache Fire footprint. It has been named the Railbridge Fire.
At least one property is without power.
