In a letter to the community, the Fremont Union High School District said staff members received an anonymous email making threats against four of its five high schools: Fremont, Homestead, Lynbrook and Monta Vista. Cupertino High was not named in the letter.

The district in turn notified the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, the San Jose Police Department and the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, the letter stated.

Authorities are “looking into the sender of these threats” and “monitoring and investigating the situation,” the district said.

“While law enforcement does not have reason at this time to believe this is a credible threat, out of an abundance of caution we are going to have police presence at all five of our school campuses in the morning, starting before 8:30 a.m.” the letter stated.

School will otherwise be in session as usual.

The district said it will share additional information about the situation as it becomes available.

DPS is working with the FUHSD, SClara County Sheriff’s Office & San Jose PD on this threat. We will be providing additional police presence tomorrow, 1/24/24, at Fremont & Homestead High Schools.
