No. 5 San Ramon Valley 58, No. 8 Dublin 45
Elliot Conley had the hot hand early, Seamus Deely had a nose for the ball late.
In between, San Ramon Valley played strong defense to keep Dublin from making any serious rallies Tuesday night as the Wolves extended their winning streak to 15 games with a victory on the road in East Bay Athletic League play.
Conley led the way with 21 points, 17 before halftime, and Deeley pulled down key offensive rebounds down the stretch to keep possessions alive. He finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Luke Isaak added 18 points — he was 6 for 6 from the foul line in the second half — as the Wolves improved to 19-3 overall and 5-0 in the league.
Dublin fell to 17-5, 3-2.
“We knew coming in that they kind of changed their style of play this year,” Deely said. “We were going to have to get it done on defense. Stop (Jalen) Stokes. Stop their dump off passes. We knew it was going to be a grinder coming in. They like to play their slow, gritty game.”
San Ramon Valley never trailed. There were two ties, 4-4 and 18-18.
The Wolves led 18-16 after the first quarter, 33-26 at halftime and 42-31 heading to the final quarter.
Conley made three 3-pointers in the first half and Deeley scored eight of his points after the midway break.
“We can score points,” Conley said. “But defense is going to win us the game.”
SRV has another important EBAL game on Thursday at Granada. The Wolves then play Foothill on Saturday before what will likely be the biggest game of their league schedule, at home next Tuesday against De La Salle.
Stokes led Dublin with 15 points. Evan Bautista and Miles Pollard each scored eight points off the bench.
No. 2 De La Salle 54, No. 3 Granada 45
Tied 36-36 after three quarters, host De La Salle took charge in the final period to snap Granada’s 17-game winning streak and remain undefeated in EBAL play.
The Spartans got 24 points — 17 in the second half — and 10 rebounds from their junior star, Alec Blair.
Leo Ricketts chipped in with 14 points and Braddock Kjellesvig finished with nine. David Balogun contributed 10 rebounds as De La Salle improved to 19-3, 5-0.
Cortevious Taylor led Granada with 18 points, and NaVaughn Long added 12 points.
Granada fell to 18-2, 4-1.
No. 1 Salesian 83, Pinole Valley 25
It was business as usual for Salesian as the Pride returned to Tri-County Athletic League Rock Division domination after winning a one-point thriller over the weekend against Millennium of Arizona at the Crush in the Valley showcase in San Pablo.
Carlton Perrilliat (12 points), Elias Obenyah (11 points) and Aaron Hunkin-Claytor (10 points) scored in double figures for Salesian, which improved to 22-1, 7-0.
Pinole Valley got six points each from Donivin Gabriel, Chriseanie Nealy and Romyn Waugh as is dropped to 10-13, 2-5.
No. 6 Archbishop Mitty 83, Valley Christian 61
Mitty had four players score in double figures as the Monarchs rolled at home over Valley Christian in West Catholic Athletic League play to remain one game behind Archbishop Riordan in the standings.
Tyler Jones led Mitty with 16 points. The Monarchs also got 15 points from Caeden Hutcherson and 14 points apiece from Gavin Ripp and Grayson Jalal.
Tzahari Trevino (18 points) and Nate Kinsella (11 points) were Valley Christian’s top scorers.
Mitty improved to 12-5, 6-1. Valley fell to 10-8, 1-6.
Cupertino 49, Homestead 40
Cupertino improved to 18-1 after a big third quarter helped the Pioneers pull away from their crosstown rival in a Santa Clara Valley Athletic League El Camino game.
Cupertino outscored Homestead 16-9 in the final eight minutes.
In a game in which points were hard to come by, Soham Nighojkar came up big, finishing with 13 points, 10 in the fourth quarter. Senior center Max Feldan added 13, and Max Lim had 12, all on his four 3-pointers. Justin Yu scored the team’s other nine points.
Cupertino is 6-0 in league play, two games ahead of second-place Fremont-Sunnyvale.
Homestead (7-12, 3-3) led 24-23 at halftime and kept it close until the final few minutes. Drew Hamburger led the hosts with 13 points, and Brian Chou scored nine points. Michigan State football commit Wyatt Hook scored five points.
Girls basketball
No. 1 Archbishop Mitty 77, Valley Christian 23
Morgan Cheli, who was announced as a McDonald’s All-American earlier in the day, had another outstanding game as Mitty improved to 18-0 with another blowout victory, this one over Valley Christian (11-7).
The UConn commit scored 14 points.
Sophomore McKenna Woliczko, a player who is on pace to also play in the prestigious showcase in two years, led the Monarchs with 23 points. Sandwiched between Mitty’s two five-star prospects was Lehigh commit Belle Bramer, who finished with 17 points.

Mitty improved to 6-0 in the West Catholic Athletic League. Valley is 1-5 in the league.
Mills 42, Menlo-Atherton 40
Mills used tough defense and timely scoring to earn the victory, and the top spot in the Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division, over Menlo-Atherton.
Michelle Tang led Mills with 15 points, and backcourt partner Chloe Lee was second with nine points. Fiona Steinmetz led M-A with 13 points and Eve Amram had 10 points.
Mills improved to 13-5, 4-1. Menlo-Atherton dropped to 11-7, 4-1.
