Gabriel Faudoa, 34, attacked and killed his mother inside her Eaton home before driving away in his father’s Chevy Impala, according to the release. Law enforcement officers then arrested him after spotting him walking back toward the home.

Faudoa pleaded not guilty to all charges, according to court documents. He alleged he was suffering from a methamphetamine-induced psychosis during the slaying.

“This is not merely a case about drug abuse or making an isolated ‘poor decision,’ ” said Deputy District Attorney Travis Winter said at the sentencing hearing. “This is a case of evil, pure and simple.”

A jury convicted Faudoa of second degree murder and motor vehicle theft in November 2023, according to court documents. He was acquitted of felony murder and aggravated robbery.
