The incident happened around 12:10 p.m. Sunday at the library located at 585 Franklin St., the Mountain View Police Department said in a news release.

The suspect asked the female victim a question as she walked past him, and when she looked at him, she saw that he was exposing himself and masturbating, police said.

The suspect left the area before officers arrived, but detectives managed to identify him.

On Tuesday, a patrol officer found and arrested the suspect at the library during a patrol check, police said. He was booked into Santa Clara County jail on charges of indecent exposure with previous convictions and failing to register as a sex offender.

Police are searching for additional victims.

“The victim believed there were others in the area that may have also seen the suspect engaged in this activity,” police said in the news release.
