transit against itself

What Nick Josefowitz lacks in vision on the important role ferries are playing in our regional transportation system he more than makes up for with an abundance of misinformation and narrow thinking. Pitting ferries, which are leading in post-pandemic ridership recovery, against other forms of public transit is counterproductive and counter to the goal of creating a highly connected and integrated regional transportation system that offers commuters a range of alternatives.
Other regions around the world are successfully embracing ferries for the important role they can play in activating our valuable waterfronts and providing new opportunities for jobs, housing and public access. We can do the same here. With discussions brewing around a potential regional transit funding measure in 2026, now is not the time to be alienating allies but instead working to convince wary voters that our transit systems are worth their investment.
