Thomas Frazier, the voice of the Oroville Tigers, lands in hall | OUHSD Hall of Fame

OROVILLE — You may not know Thomas Frazier but if you’re a fan of Oroville High School football you know his voice. The 1972 Las Plumas High School graduate and Oroville Union High School District 2024 Hall of Fame inductee has been the home football game announcer for the last 12 seasons.

A life-long lover of sports, Frazier lettered in basketball, tennis and track in high school in high school. He was a member of the Block LP club and an active member of the French and Key Clubs.

Following graduation, Frazier attended Butte College for two years and lettered in tennis. In 1973, Frazier was undefeated in Golden Valley Conference singles and placed second in the doubles division.

From 1974 through 1977, he served in the United States Air Force at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi where he started as a telecommunications specialist and was an honor graduate from the Basic Training and Telecommunications School.

Following his honorable discharge from service, he started the Endeavor Homes Program at Las Plumas Lumber Company in Oroville. He was mentored by OUHSD 2012 Hall of Fame Inductee Joe Felipe who he assisted in the implementation of the operational systems in Riverside and Bakersfield divisions of Las Plumas Lumber Company. In 1986, Frazier became part owner of Norcal Lumber Company in Olivehurst, California, and was the sales and production manager until 2009 when became general manager of Ramsey Funeral Homes. In his general manager capacity Frazier manages the day-to-day operations for Ramsey and Oroville funeral homes as well as the Gridley-Block Funeral Home in Gridley.

Frazier’s community service through the years has included assisting Pastor Don Phillips in the youth department at the Church of the Nazarene. He served in this role for three years, then became a full-time volunteer and youth pastor for eight years. His membership in the Praise and Worship Band at the Church of the Nazarene and the Clean Slate Community Church spanned 30 years.

Outside of his volunteer work at churches, Frazier coached the Thermalito Little League and was a board member for 14 years. He also did all the game filming for the Oroville Rhinos for four years. Additionally he has devoted many years to Oroville High School athletics, filming football games for more than 10 years and girls’ basketball games for 20 years.

Frazier and his wife, Tomasa, make their home in Oroville.
