A Magalia resident was shot and killed after what police say was an argument that turned violent around 2:20 a.m. Sunday.

Kindall Alan Woodward, 32, is accused of shooting and fatally wounding Magalia resident Tyler Elijah Simmons, 21, at the intersection of Pentz Road and Drayer Drive, said Paradise Police Department Sgt. Robert Pickering.

The department reported in a news release Sunday that dispatch received a 911 call with reports of gunfire earlier that morning.

Paradise police arrived and found several people present, including Simmons.

Simmons was assessed by officers and medical personnel and determined to be dead, according to the release.

This investigation is ongoing. The Butte County District Attorney’s Office is assisting the Paradise Police Department in the investigation.

Woodward was arrested on suspicion of homicide and booked into the Butte County Jail.

Investigators ask anyone with information about the shooting to call 530-872-6241. Pickering said an updated press release with more information will most likely be released Tuesday.
