Man robs Oakland bank by claiming a bomb

OAKLAND — A man claiming to have a bomb robbed a downtown Oakland bank Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The robbery happened about 12:15 p.m. Thursday at Citibank, 1325 Broadway.

Police said a man approached a teller, said he had a bomb and demanded cash.

No bomb was seen, but the teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of money and he fled on foot, authorities said.

The robber is described as Black, in his 30s, about 6 feet tall with a thin build and dark complexion with a mustache and goatee, authorities said. He wore a black puffy jacket that had a fur lined hood, a blue shirt and black pants.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $2,500 in reward money for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3326 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572.
