Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week: Sa’o Loia, St. Francis wrestling

St. Francis wrestler Sa’o Loia is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for Jan. 29-Feb. 3.

In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Loia finished with 42.9% of the votes. Los Gatos basketball player Ashley Childers took second at 25.8%.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Loia, a senior, placed first in her division at the West Catholic Athletic League championships on Saturday at Sacred Heart Cathedral. She was one of five St. Francis girls to win titles.
