RED BLUFF — With the 103rd Red Bluff Round-Up approaching with the speed of a bull, the Tehama County Chamber of Commerce and its partners gathered together on Tuesday to get the jump on planning.

What was once an 11-day event has extended to 17 days. A renaming contest for the event turned up a new label: Countdown to Round-Up.

This year’s events will kick off on Friday, April 5 with the main events running from April 19-21. On Tuesday, Tehama County Chamber of Commerce CEO Dave Gowan was joined by local business owners and major players in the local rodeo events to come up with the initial calendar of events for the 17 days as well as allow for others to submit events to be scheduled at a later date.

“This is a diamond event for Red Bluff, the county and really all of the north state,” Gowan said. “Just the rodeo itself, but also about 30 events that take place in a couple of weeks in April throughout Red Bluff and throughout the county. And so it’s a wonderful time for locals to celebrate what goes on here in Red Bluff and Tehama County, and it’s a great time for our neighboring communities to come.”

Gowan went on to say that the Round-Up often brings in guests from abroad.

“We get people from dozens of states and a number of provinces,” Gowan said. “Always, several nations are represented at the Round-Up and they specifically come to the Round-Up to experience Red Bluff at its finest throughout the event.”

While the rodeo will be the spectacle, other mainstays such as the rodeo concert, cowboy coffee, roaming jail and breast cancer awareness events will once again return to Red Bluff. Red Bluff Mayor and former Tehama County Sheriff Clay Parker will be back this year during the rodeo days providing safe rides alongside his wife during the main Round-Up weekend. The airshow will also continue, though now conducted by the Death Rattlers.

The bulk of planning was done on Tuesday, but other events will be flowing in over the next couple of weeks. Organizations and businesses were invited to submit event cards to be added with the final deadline of March 1. Those interested in submitting event cards can pick them up at the chamber’s office located at 100 Main St. or by emailing [email protected].

April 5-11

Kicking off the event on April 5, local business Tobin and Associates will begin selling advertising space at its location in Red Bluff with all the proceeds going to the Golden Circle of Champions, an organization with rodeo ties that raises awareness of pediatric cancer.

April 6 will bring the River Trail Ride and barbecue alongside the Red Bluff Pickleball Rodeo Scramble.

Days three and four are still looking for upcoming events from the public, but April 9 will feature a business decorating contest and judging along with a sip and support event at Enjoy to help raise additional funds for the Golden Circle of Champions.

The Cool Club Rodeo Dance is scheduled for April 10 followed by Cowboy Coffee and Bingo on April 11.

April 12-18

The Western Art Show is set for April 12 at 328 Oak St. from 5:30-8 p.m. followed by the Red Bluff Rotary Kick-Off Car Show and the Chili Cook-Off on April 13.

Events are still in the works for April 14.

On April 15, the Cowboys and Kids assemblies are scheduled as well as Cowboy Poetry at 6 p.m. at the Tehama County Fairgrounds.

The annual Red Bluff Round-Up Bikini Barrel Race will happen on April 17 along with the sixth Round-Up Blood Drive and more Cowboys and Kids assemblies.
