OAKLAND — A 19-year-old woman has been charged with driving drunk without a valid license, killing a woman who was walking across the street and leaving after the fatal crash, court records show.
Majesta Mack, of Oakland, was charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, fleeing the scene of a crash, two felony counts of drunken driving and one misdemeanor count of driving without a license. At a Feb. 15 court appearance, she was released without having to post bail but ordered not to drive drunk and to submit to chemical tests while out of custody, court records show.
Mack is accused of killing Toña Marie Fragoso in the Dec. 18 collision. According to Alameda County sheriff’s investigators, Mack was seen driving 80 mph in an unincorporated part of San Leandro. She allegedly struck and killed Fragoso — who was crossing the street — while police were about a quarter-mile behind her.

The deputies were planning to pull Mack over but hadn’t yet activated their lights, authorities said in court records.
After the collision, police say Mack continued to drive but ended up pulling into a parking lot on the 15500 block of Washington Avenue in San Leandro, where she was arrested. She allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol and marijuana earlier in the day, but refused sobriety tests.
Mack was booked on manslaughter charges but released pending the completion of the police investigation. The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged her last week. Her next court date has been set for late March, records show.
Fragoso died on the street before she could be taken to a hospital, police said.
